A literacy advocate excited about sharing what she calls “bookjoy\,” Pat founded Children’s Day\, Book Day\, in Spanish\, El día de los niños\, El día de los libros\, “Día.” Pat and her partners\, including the American Library Association and First Book nationally\, promote this year-long initiative of creatively linking all children and families to books and establishing annual April Children’s Day\, Book Day celebrations. On April 30\, 2021\, Día will celebrate its 25th Anniversary! \nPoems must be original work not previously published. Entries are submitted electronically and may be submitted in English\, bilingual Spanish-English\, or transcribed from those who have a visual disability.

SUMMARY:Market Day
DESCRIPTION:Market Day\nBy Cola City Homeschoolers\nThursday\, March 11 from 1-3 pm\nAll ages — $5\n  \nMarket Day is a fun\, opportunity to be a creative entrepreneur.  Thursday\, March 11 at 1 pm. Seven Oaks Park\, 200 Leisure Lane\, Columbia. Park in the “additional” parking lot below the daycare center. Masks are recommended when social distancing is not possible. \nEntrepreneur Challenge: create items for “sale”: something fun\, useful\, or beautiful.\nIdeas for getting started: Bookmarks\, DIY Slime\, Homemade Soaps\, Origami Creations\, DIY Stress Balls\, Sun Catchers\, Dream Catchers\, Beaded Bracelets\, DIY Bouncy Balls\, DIY Bath Bombs\, Wood Crafts\, DIY PlayDoh\, Picture Frames\, Small Clay Dishes\, Paper Flowers\, Pet Rocks\, Painted Stones\, Magnets\, Mod Podge Creations\, Homemade Comics\, Pour Paintings\, Keychains. Edible items are permitted\, but may not sell due to covid and/or allergy concerns. \nPrice your items or have a price sign. Each participant will be provided with Market dollars–no coins. So keep that in mind with your prices.  Optional: It is recommended to bring your own table for your “store” display if you can. \nParticipants may set up as individual vendors or partner together. Market Day bucks will be provided per vendor space\, to shop for items. Each vendor space is $5 (will be provided $20 Market Day bucks). Partners sharing a space will also share their market day dollars. \n\n \nNotes to clarify about the market day bucks and the particpation fee: \n\nParticipants will not earn or use “real money.” Think of it more like a mock market day or a trading day. The currency is a set amount for each participant–so they can value their items and trade within the closed economy. Like a barter system of sorts–they’ll walk away with other “goods” to show for their contribution to the economy.\nWe do have a small fee for participation to cover our overhead costs of running and organizing Cola City. That money goes into the “economy” of this event and this support resource.\nConsider the real life value of your market items between $.25-$1.50. Prepare 10-20 items for your store. Set the market day bucks prices between $1-$5.\nBonus bucks ($5)  for vendors who incorporate recycled\, repurposed or environmentally-friendly products–and can explain this component.
