Over the last 120 centuries\, the area has had an array of inhabitants\, including mammoths\, Native American tribes and Civil War soldiers. It includes earthworks from an 1865 Civil War battle. The park is full of stories and offers something for explorers of all ages. \nGuided historical walking tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. Trained by the National Park Service\, our volunteer guides will take you on a walk along this beautiful trail filled with stories of the Battle of Congaree Creek\, Fort Congaree and Native American Lifeways. There are also special events including Nature Days and Civil War Encampments. \nCurrently\, the park is collecting donations to build a state of the art visitors center. DESCRIPTION:Colonial Congaree Fort Tour\nby 12\,000 Year Park\nSaturday\, Aug 17th @10am\nAll Ages — FREE\nNote: This is NOT a Cola City event. \nThe 12\,000 Year History Park is a unique archeological site in Cayce\, South Carolina\, where history and nature converge. Over the last 120 centuries\, the area has had an array of inhabitants\, including mammoths\, Native American tribes and Civil War soldiers. It includes earthworks from an 1865 Civil War battle. The park is full of stories and offers something for explorers of all ages. \nGuided historical walking tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. Trained by the National Park Service\, our volunteer guides will take you on a walk along this beautiful trail filled with stories of the Battle of Congaree Creek\, Fort Congaree and Native American Lifeways. There are also special events including Nature Days and Civil War Encampments. \nCurrently\, the park is collecting donations to build a state of the art visitors center. I felt like how I was feeling didn’t matter\, like I didn’t matter. My experiences weren’t isolated. Many youth struggle with these same emotions every single day! Just like a Butterfly\, our youth go through different stages. This 12 – week program is designed to help 6th through 12th graders (ages 12 – 18) navigate each stage of their life with love\, support\, patience and understanding while securing their mental\, emotional and social wellbeing. Location: 208 Claude Bundrick Rd\, Blythewood\, SC 29016\, USA \nA Tree’s Story: 9/9/2024 \nJoin us Mondays in September for learning and fun with science-based activities!  This 30 – 45 minute STEAM-in-nature activity will focus on trees and the clues they provide us to help tell their life’s story.  This activity\, led by experienced facilitators\, is designed for 1st through 5th grade students and begins at 11:30 a.m.  Guardians should remain on-site and supervise their child during play and picnic times (12:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.)  Don’t miss out on this enriching and exciting opportunity.
