We’re having a BLAST with a pile of foam to play in at Granby Gardens Park\, 1800 12th St\, Cayce\, SC 29033. (note: GPS sometimes pulls up Grandby Park instead. Try also Cayce Town Hall at 1800 12th Street\, Cayce). \nAll ages–$6.50/participant to help cover the costs of the foam cannon (scheduled from 10:30-noon). \nBring beach balls\, pool noodles\, lawn chairs\, drinking water/snacks\, and sunscreen. Shoes and goggles are recommended. This Field Trip is another “Let Grow” initative to foster agency and autonomy at age-appropriate levels. \nRAIN PLAN: We’ll move to an indoor meet-up location: Richland Library Downtown (Lower Level\, Children’s/Teens Room Areas). \nHURRICANE WINDS: If School Districts have e-learning day or cancelled\, then this meet-up is cancelled. Stay safe and dry! \nSally Salamander is a walking tour of downtown Columbia featuring numbered\, bronze statues of South Carolina’s state amphibian\, the spotted salamander. The tour was presented by the Leadership Columbia class of 2009. We’ll meet-up at Columbia SC Visitors Center to get started! \nI’m Sally\, Columbia SC’s official amphibian ambassador! Wear your costumes\, too! \nLocation: Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia\, 2701 Heyward St\, Columbia\, SC 29205 Free parking along both sides of the street–look for the entrance at the corner/front side of the building. \n(Let Grow Play Club meet-up: Hide and Seek Trick or Treat is at Owens Field afterwards from 1-3pm) \nEntrepreneur Challenge: create items for “sale”: something fun\, useful\, or beautiful. Holiday Theme recommended. \nIdeas for getting started: Bookmarks\, DIY Slime\, Homemade Soaps\, Origami Creations\, DIY Stress Balls\, Sun Catchers\, Dream Catchers\, Beaded Bracelets\, DIY Bouncy Balls\, DIY Bath Bombs\, Wood Crafts\, DIY PlayDoh\, Picture Frames\, Small Clay Dishes\, Paper Flowers\, Pet Rocks\, Painted Stones\, Magnets\, Mod Podge Creations\, Homemade Comics\, Pour Paintings\, Keychains. The currency is a set amount for each participant–so they can value their items and trade within the closed economy. Please contact USC Center for Civil Rights for more information and submission \n\n\nColumbia-area high school students are invited to participate in “My Street\, My Story: Celebrating History and Community through Youth Expression\,” a visual and literary arts contest created by the USC Center for Civil Rights History and Research. \nInspired by the Center’s current exhibition\, Intersection on Main Street: African American Life in Columbia\, located in the Columbia Museum of Art’s Our Story Matters gallery\, students are encouraged to use their preferred methods of artistic or written expression to create a body of work that draws connections from the stories of community and resilience of the Historic Black Business District in Columbia to their own present-day experiences in their community.  \nMORE Information Click HERE
