Registration required–scroll down to reserve your space. \nWho are you? Where do you come from? Tell us about your family history and traditions. This is a great opportunity to learn about each other and make meaningful connections within our community. \nPresentation content: Highlight something about your family culture\, origin stories of where you’re from\, traditions that have been handed down. Create a table top display and prepare a narative about it. It can be a broader story about the culture and traditions. Or it can be a specific story about a relative or ancestor. \nPresentation format: The presenters get to tell about their project several times\, not just a one-time show-n-tell as participants meander and mingle. It’s also very relaxed style of presenting one-on-one\, rather than the formal “speech”. \nWe recommend projects that are hands-on\, interactive demonstrations or have samples\, hand-outs\, give-aways. In his mission to unite people from all different walks of life\, Chris explores various ways in which we can learn to see beyond our differences and embrace our shared values\, hopes\, and aspirations. Ideal for Adults and Teens to consider our own beliefs and biases\, to listen to those whom we disagree with\, and find common ground where we can build a better world. \nYour Life Matters by Chris Singleton. This Field Trip is another “Let Grow” initative to foster agency and autonomy at age-appropriate levels. \nSally Salamander is a walking tour of downtown Columbia featuring numbered\, bronze statues of South Carolina’s state amphibian\, the spotted salamander. The tour was presented by the Leadership Columbia class of 2009. We’ll meet-up at Columbia SC Visitors Center to get started! \nI’m Sally\, Columbia SC’s official amphibian ambassador! As you look for me around downtown\, be sure to notice the beautiful architecture and cultural icons of South Carolina’s capital city. You will learn the natural history of several native wildlife species\, their habitat requirements\, and ways to make your own yard more beneficial to wildlife. Participants will learn basic identification techniques for wildlife tracks\, skulls\, pelts\, and scat and why these skills are important for wildlife biologists. DESCRIPTION:EduCamps\nby Bob Jones University\nJune-July\nAll Ages — Price Varies\nNote: This is NOT a Cola City event. \nBJU offers a plethora of camps this summer for students of all ages\, with a wide selection of focuses. From Golf to Shakespeare\, Computer Programming to Bug Biodiversity\, there is something to interest your student! REGISTER HERE!\n  \nPlanning for Camp\nRegistration\nRegistration is completely online. A $20 registration fee per camper (not per camp) will be added at checkout. \nRoom Requests\nCampers may each make one request to room with a friend or sibling. Room requests must be mutual. We will do our best to fulfill each request\, provided it is made on the online reservation form. \nRefund/Cancellation\n$50 deposit is non-refundable. Remaining payments will be refunded only if cancellation is received 10 or more days before the beginning of the camp. There is no refund for cancellations made after the 10-day notice period has expired. If the requested camp is full\, we will issue a complete refund or place your camper’s name on a waiting list. If a camp is canceled\, we will issue a complete refund. \nWhile at Camp\nArrival and Check-in / Departure\nWe offer complimentary shuttle service to and from the GSP International Airport as well as the Greenville Amtrak and Greyhound stations. You can request a shuttle on the online registration form. \nCampers will check in at the location specified on the individual camp page. (See BJU map or directions to BJU.) \nCampus Address\n1700 Wade Hampton Blvd.\nGreenville\, SC 29614 \nMeals\nMeals will be served in our dining common in an all-you-can-eat buffet style. Any food concerns (allergies\, diet restrictions\, etc.) can be noted in the online registration form. \nHousing\nOvernight campers will stay the BJU residence halls. Overnight stay is only available for students in 9–12 grades. \nWhat overnight campers should bring\n\nBedding for twin bunk\nTowels\nToiletries\nMoney for snacks\nSunscreen\n\nWhat to Wear\nAt EDUcamp\, we want to create an environment that is appropriate and comfortable for all campers. In order to do this\, we have a dress code that we ask all campers to abide by. Please review these guidelines to ensure that your camper’s attire aligns with our camp standards: \n  \nTops: \n\nCamper may wear loose-fitting shirts.\nSleeveless\, midriff-bearing\, or tight-fitting shirts are not permitted.\n\nBottoms: \n\nShorts that approach the knee are acceptable.\nLoose-fitting jeans and athletics pants are permitted.\nMid-thigh shorts or tight-fitting pants are not allowed.\n\nInappropriate Themes or Images: \n\nClothing with inappropriate themes\, offensive language or explicit images is not allowed.\nCampers should refrain from wearing attire that may be considered offensive or disrespectful to others.\n\nDay Camp\nSr. High Camps \n\nDay campers must live in or stay with family in the immediate Greenville area.\nCampers may be required to be on campus from 8:30 a.m.–9 p.m. on camp days.\nLunch and dinner are included in the camp cost.

(note: GPS sometimes pulls up Grandby Park downtown instead. Try also Cayce Town Hall at 1800 12th Street\, Cayce). \nWe hope to see this grow and expand to more projects and activities to develop interpersonal connections as well as personal agency. Game stations for Water Wars\, Relay Games and Water Wiffle Ball.\nSpecial Guest appearance: The chicken costume \nBring your own squirt guns and blasters\, lawn chairs\, drinking water\, and sunscreen. DESCRIPTION:Among Us at the Museum\nby Liz Cordova @ SC State Museum\nFriday\, April 26 @10:30 am\nAges 10+ — FREE\nNote: This event is facilitated by a Cola City volunteer. Space is limited to 20 participants\, with the registration below (scroll down). \nIt’s time for the next round of Among Us Meet-up at the State Museum\, located at 301 Gervais St in Columbia\, SC. \nFriday\, April 26 from 10:30am till 2 (or later). Admission is free with your homeschool ID/certificate. Look for Liz to greet you by the Telescope in order to check in together as a group.  Additional adults must pay $5 admission. \nAmong Us is a scavenger hunt and game of tag. This is geared for ages 10 and up. Players must have a cell phone for communications during the game (though it’s ok to share with a parent and/or other player). \n\nBring snacks if you wish. There’s a cart that will be available to hold your lunch/snacks for our group.\nPlayers will get an task card and ID tag so you’ll be able to identify who else is playing as you cross paths in the musuem.\nYounger siblings/non-players may watch\, but please do not give clues or interfere with the game.\nAbide by the museum rules–and be courteous of others.\nCheck in with Liz/Hosi to get more task cards and at the end of the game\, return the Player ID tags.\n\nGame info to help you prepare\, so we save time getting started: \n*Among Us General Rules* – Follow the Museum Rules – No Teaming (You can help others but no teaming up) – Be Respectful of other players as well as other guests and staff – No shoving\, pushing\, tripping\, running\, or yelling – If you are tagged you have to respect that. The Imposter can and will tell the Game Master and you will be warned to play fair – Only the Game Master can call an Emergency Meeting. If you found a body or wish to call a meeting for any other reason tell the Game Master. \n*Imposter Rules* – Respect the general rules – Do not be aggressive – Do not tag somewhere your target cannot be found (Bathrooms and elevators are especially off limits for tagging) – Do not throw a fit if you’re found out (Losing is as much a part of the game as Winning is) – No chasing. – Be sneaky and don’t be sus \n*Ghost Rules* – When you are tagged and made a ghost\, sit where you were tagged and stay put until either you are found or a meeting is called – Do not tell others who tagged you or who was around you. \nIf you’re interested Cola City hosts other “Let Grow” initiatives to provide our students with opportunities intentionally designed to foster independence\, social development\, problem solving–for all ages.
