In a world often divided by differences\, our mission is to create a joyful and supportive community where we celebrate what makes us unique and discover the common ground that unites us all. \nThis week we’re doing Reader’s Theater. Participants are given the opportunity to perform a script together. Reader’s Theater gives students the chance to practice reading aloud\, and practice reading with fluency and expression.\nOne of the most enjoyable ways to help students comprehend stories they read is to have them act it out\, using strategies for prompting oral development\, plus team effort and collaboration! Geared for ages 9+\, but younger readers may also participate. \nWe’re asking for $5 contribution toward the overhead costs of the facility. If you have multiple children or the cost is prohibitive\, pay what you can afford–and come anyway. We’d rather you come out and play\, than stay home. DESCRIPTION:Science Share Fair\nBy Cola City Common Ground Club\nWednesday\, May 7 at 12:30\nAll Ages — $5/space\nThis is a fun twist on Show and Tell. Rather than stand up in front of a group to do a one-off presentation. Participants will set up a table/presentation area for on-going short presentations/demonstrations in a “fair” format. Participants will have designated presentation time\, then also time to mingle as viewers/observers while others are presenting. \nIt’s a great chance to show off something that you have already learned in any topic of Science: Biology\, Chemistry\, Physics\, Earth Science\, Natural Sciences\, Astronomy\, Environmental Science.\nWe recommend projects that are hands-on\, interactive demonstrations or have samples\, hand-outs\, give-aways. You can do something that includes the scientific method\, if you want\, but it’s not required. \nAll participants will get a prize and certificate. There will not be judges to evaluate. This is a fun way to “tell others” something that you learned. You can do individual projects/presentations or buddy up with siblings or friends for your presentations. \nBring your presentation/project and your own table/display. A river runs by the farm and there is a dock where Milo and Otis play. One day\, when they are playing hide-and-seek\, Milo hides in a wooden box floating near the dock. Suddenly\, the box gets carried away in the current. Otis follows on shore trying to rescue Milo but the river takes the frightened kitten far from the farm. Pre-registration is recommended  \nField Trip \n \nSince 1995\, thousands of school children have traveled to the Battle of Aiken Park for the annual School Field Trip Day held the Friday\, after President’s Day\, each February. Students go through a living history program that makes history come alive! Over 75\,000 children have experienced the program. Today\, some of the past attendees are now parents and bring another generation of students to the program! Schools from across Georgia and South Carolina attend every year. All public schools\, private schools\, and home schools are invited to attend this event which is appropriate for all ages. The educational program is believed to be the largest attended single day field trip in the state.\nAdmission: Free\n\nTime: Gates open at 8:30 A.M. and close at 3:00 P. M. Presentations begin at 9 A. M. There is no minimum or maximum time requirement.
